Cumming, Georgia, is known as the “Gateway to Leisure Living.” The county seat of Forsyth County, it was first incorporated by the Georgia State Legislature in 1834. Cumming was formerly inhabited by the Cherokee tribe, but the discovery of gold in Cumming prompted the Treaty of New Echota, which lead to the Trail of Tears.
